You know how they say laughter is the best medicine? I’m fairly certain that an evening with friends is the second best medicine, and packs a triple punch when you combine the two.
Between the wacky weather patterns and the changing of seasons, Joe and I have alternating stuffy noses and sore throats, and sort of just feel blah. But I managed to drag my stuffy self out last night to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and it was so so worth it. A lot of times I tend to focus my relational energy (is that a thing?) towards quality time with a few specific people, and I often forget just how much fun large groups of friends can be. Last night was a great reminder of just how beneficial a community can be, and it was so good to spend time with such quality folks.
We were made to live alongside other people because there’s so much peace and joy to be found in those relationships. And when we’re doing it right, really loving each other well, we can become a living testament to Christ’s love on earth. So score one for friends and for birthdays.
