Joe and I had just started dating when I first visited his family for New Year 2009. We had fun, fireworks, and food, but as I made the drive back down 72 to Fort Mill, I was struck by how his parents interacted. Or, more importantly, how they looked at each other. You see, they talked and teased like old friends, but they flirted and stole glances like star-crossed teens. They were cute and they were real. I don’t pretend to know the ins and outs of their marriage, or their secret to making love last, but I do know how they look at each other, even after twenty-five years. That’s love, and that’s what I want for my marriage.
Denise and Scott, have the happiest of anniversaries. You are very loved, and we are very thankful for you.
